Tomoe Gozen was a daughter of Kaneto Nakahara who grew up protecting Yoshinaka Kiso (Minamoto). Her appearance was very beautiful, she was Yoshinaka’s wife, and also famous as the strongest female samurai in Japanese history. He supported Yoshinaka with her brother Kanehira Imai, from the raising of Yoshinaka to the battle with Heishi and the last battle with the Yoritomo Minamoto’s army. She is also said to have been commanded by one army in such as the battles of Kurikara-touge, that won by Heishi, because she was superior in heroism. In the battle of Ujigawa in 1184, where Yoshinaka was defeated by fighting with Yoshitsune Minamoto, it was said that she was not defeated even when she became the last five. There are many places in Japan where you can see the moth about Tomoe Gozen.
