This is Shigetada Hatakeyama, a great general, famous as brave and wise samurai, drawn by Yoshitoshi Tsukioka. He was active at the end of the Heian period and had pure and innocent personality. In the battle of Genpei, he was originally Heishi side, but around September 1180, he followed to Yoritomo Minamoto. After that, he played a major role in pursuing Heishi under the control of Yoshitsune Minamoto. He also had mysterious power. In the battle of Ichinotani, Yoshitsune went down the steep hill of Hiyodorigoe with horses and attacked Heishi, and won. At this time, it is said that Shigenada went down the cliff with his horse on his back, saying he was sorry if his horse was injured. After the battles of Genpei, he played an active role as major general of Yoritomo Minamoto. However, after Yoritomo's death, Shigetada's fame was warned by Hojo family. At one time, Tokimasa Hojo made a trick, and large army was sent from Yoshitoki Hojo. Shigetada fought and was scattered. It is said that people regretted Shigetada's great personality and lamented his last.
