At the end of the Heian period, the Heike, who was expelled from Kyoto, gradually recovered power in the West, and was stationed near Ichinotani, Hyogo Prefecture, with 100,000 large troops. Noriyori Minamoto and Yoshitsune Minamoto brothers advanced the army to defeat the Heike.
Noriyori led 5,000 troops and challenged the Heike from Ikuta on the front, resulting in a fierce battle.
Yoshitsune challenged the Heike from behind, with 10,000 troops, but got stuck.
So Yoshitsune was an elite 70 horseman and set out on the cliff of Hiyodorigoe.
Ask a local huntsman, and he replied “You can't go down by horse”.
But Yoshitsune asked, "Can a deer go down?"
He heard that the deer could go down and said, "If a deer can go down, we can."
Yoshitsune and the 70 horsemen stormed the Heike down the steep cliffs of Hiyodorigoe.
The Heike, who was stormed from an unlikely direction, fell into chaos, and collapsed and failed.
It was a tactical genius, Yoshitsune Minamoto's victory.
