Tea is said to have originally come from China around the 8th century.
However, it did not develop much after that.
In the latter half of the Kamakura period and the Muromachi period, games for guessing the origin of tea became popular among samurai and aristocrat.
It is said that the tea ceremony was established in earnest during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, when Sen no Rikyu and Oribe Furuta were active.
It seems that it was a taste of a limited class until the early Edo period, but it is said that the tea ceremony has greatly expanded its population since it spread to the townspeople in the middle of the Edo period.
And in the Meiji era, tea ceremony became widespread as a cultural item for girls.
Matcha, which is currently popular as a sweet, is said to originate from Japan.
