This is the picture of New Year in Edo, drawn by Chikanobu Yoshu.
Beautiful women and cute puppies are depicted.
Flying Kite originated in China and is said to have been made for military purposes around the 4th century BC.
It seems to have been transmitted to Japan during the Heian period.
Japanese kites with Japanese paper on the bamboo skeleton and tails were played all over Japan.
In the Edo period, kite flying became boom, and the roof of the daimyo residences were destroyed, and it seemed that there were problems when it fell into a daimyo line.
The term "tako (octopus)" is used in the Kanto area, and until the early Meiji era it was called "ika (squid)" or "ika nobori" in the Kansai area.
During the Edo period, there was an episode of a bandit who tried to steal the gold Shachihoko of Nagoya Castle on a large kite.
