Masatsura Kusunoki was the eldest son of Masashige Kusunoki. Masashige Kusunoki is known for his genius tactics in favor of Emperor Godaigo, and repelled to the Kamakura shogunate army at Chihaya Castle and Akasaka Castle. During the North and South Emperor period, Masashige was famous as his loyalty who fought against Takauji Ashikaga. The son, Masatsura Kusunoki, is said to have been wise and loyal since childhood. One day, Masatsura was working hard to study, and a great monk monster appeared. Masatsura faced the youkai without panicking and exterminated. The true nature of the youkai was an old Raccoon that was hundreds of years old. Masatsura succeeded in protecting the Emperor of the South side after his father Masashige, who died in the Battle of Minatogawa, but was defeated in the Battle of Shijonawate. After the Meiji Restoration, Masatsura was revered as God with his father Masashige.
