Ushiwakamaru was entrusted to Kurama Temple when he was 7 years old. In the daytime, he studied subjects and Buddhism at Kurama Temple. One day, Ushiwakamaru met Great Tengu when he went to the Bishop valley in Mount Kurama. The Great Tengu, along with his subordinate crow tengus, taught Ushiwakamaru about military tactics and swordsmanship. Ushiwakamaru knew that he was the legitimate stream of Genji, and in the night time, he had to escape from the temple and train with Great Tengu to avenge Heike as died his father, Yoshitomo’s enemy. Ushiwakamaru, who turned 16 years old, changed his name to Yoshitsune Minamoto, turned Benkei into his servant, and then played a major role in fighting his father's enemy Heike. Yoshitoshi Tsukioka drew the representative Japanese Youkai, Crow Tengu.
